1976 Suburban Handicap

1976 Suburban Handicap

National Museum of Racing, Saratoga Springs, NY

Created in 1982, this dynamic bronze sculpture forever immortalizes one of the most legendary moments in thoroughbred racing history: the dramatic three-way photo finish of the 1976 Suburban Handicap. The artwork captures the explosive energy, speed, and neck-and-neck tension between three titans of the track—Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure on the rail, Lord Rebeau in the center, and the iconic 1976 Horse of the Year, Forego, surging on the outside.

Recently, this classic piece found a prestigious new home. I am deeply honored to announce that the "Suburban Handicap" sculpture has been officially added to the permanent collection of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, New York. Having my fine art represented in the nation’s premier institution for thoroughbred racing history is an extraordinary privilege. I am also highly appreciative of the late Howard "Tim" Whitbread, whose generous donation of this sculpture to the Museum made this incredible milestone possible, ensuring that racing fans and art enthusiasts alike can experience the thrill of this historic finish for generations to come.
